Best Way To Using The Car Battery Charger

The last time, I have talked about using solar battery chargers, portable chargers. Today I will go into details, as well as, giving tips on using the two most common car battery chargers, which are trickle chargers and float chargers. Alright, let’s get started.

1. Can damage the car battery greatly

The reason is that most of these charges do not include a voltage regulator to shut off charging once the car battery is full. You see the way these kinds of chargers work is that they cannot tell when your battery is going to be full. Therefore, they are going to keep charging until you unplug them.

Thus, you should not overcharge or leave your car battery on charge overnight. This can possibly reduce the usage of your car battery, as well as, your car charger. It is best to keep your car battery plugged until it reaches full energy.

2. Need regular check

Since trickle chargers have no circuitries in order to prevent overcharging, it is quite hard to know when your battery is fully charged. What you can do is connecting and disconnecting your charger at regular intervals so that the cells of your car battery will not be heated.

Although it requires effort and time, it is a precaution step. After all, the last thing that you want to is to cause damage to your goods. Plus, it helps prolong the usage of your device, as well as, protecting your safety. So, from the way I see it, this is something that you should do.

3. Can extend battery life

Much like solar battery chargers, trickle chargers can also prolong your car battery life. The reason is that trickle chargers only charge the battery when it is not in use. In other words, your battery can be prevented from sulfide of the battery.

More so, since car battery trickle chargers transmit their energy to a secondary device, in this case, the car battery. The car battery will get the energy slower and steadier. This is an extremely brilliant and safe method as your battery will more likely to withstand the flow of power in a long period of time. Thus, reducing the risk of damage to the battery.

Float chargers

  • Charge slowly

Compared to trickle chargers, float chargers take longer time to charge car batteries. It may take 6-8 hours for a battery to be fully charged, especially in charging a dead car battery.

  • Have circuitries

Unlike trickle chargers or solar chargers, float chargers have intelligent circuitries. What this feature does is that once your battery has finished charging, it will automatically discontinue charging.

The reason is that float chargers have many active sensors sensing the battery level. Once the battery of your car has reached its full power, these sensors will be activated. Thus enabling the charger to shut off itself so that energy can no longer be transferred into the battery.

This is something worth considering since many people tend to overcharge their batteries.

  • Can be versatile

Unlike other chargers, float chargers are the only type of charger on the market that can manage the efficient of the battery. Though this feature is quite rare, it can be found amongst best car battery chargers.

  • Cause little to no damage to the battery

This is because each float has a circuitry. As I had mentioned above, it can automatically stop the energy flow once the battery is fully charged, thus preventing the battery and the internal of the battery from being overheated.

In other words, you can leave your battery on charge for however long you want. And no need to be scared of overheating your battery cause float chargers will do no damage to it.
